Verenium appoints chief legal officer

Verenium Corp., which is building a cellulosic ethanol plant in Jennings, La., has appointed Gerald Haines to the newly created position of executive vice president and chief legal officer. His experience in business and legal matters with early-stage companies will be an asset to Verenium, according to President and Chief Executive Officer Carlos Riva. Before joining Verenium, Haines was the executive vice president of strategic affairs and chief legal officer for a public network communications company. He holds a Juris Doctor degree from Cornell Law School and a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Boston University.
