The U.S. EPA has released renewable identification number (RIN) generation data for August, reporting that 1.75 billion RINs were generated during the month, including 31.29 million cellulosic RINs.

More than 31.29 million D3 cellulosic biofuel RINs were generated in August, including 22.25 million RINs generated for renewable compressed natural gas by domestic producers, 5.39 million RINs generated for renewable liquefied natural gas by domestic producers, 2.78 million RINs generated for renewable liquefied natural gas by importers, 445,350 RINs generated for cellulosic ethanol by domestic producers, and 428,514 RINs generated renewable compressed natural gas by importers.

During the first nine months of the year, 167.39 million D3 RINs were generated, including 116.36 million for renewable compressed natural gas, 44.74 for renewable liquefied natural gas and 6.3 million for cellulosic ethanol.

No D7 cellulosic diesel RINs were generated in August. Since the beginning of 2018, 1.51 million D7 RINs have been generated, including 1.5 million for cellulosic heating oil and 11,256 for cellulosic diesel.

More than 22.41 million D5 advanced biofuel RINs were generated in August, including 14.78 million generated for ethanol by importers, 2.85 mill generated for nonester renewable diesel by domestic producers, 2.67 million generated for naphtha by domestic producers, 2.09 million generated for ethanol by domestic producers, and 24,246 generated for renewable compressed natural gas by domestic producers.

During the first nine months of the year, 69.94 million D5 RINs were generated, including 31.38 million for ethanol, 18 million for nonester renewable diesel, 17.77 million for naphtha, 1.77 million for renewable heating oil, and 1.02 million for renewable compressed natural gas.

More than 1.35 billion D6 renewable fuel RINs were generated in August, including 1.34 billion generated for ethanol by domestic producers and 14.32 million generated for nonester renewable diesel by foreign entities.

During the first three quarters of 2018, 10.17 billion D6 RINs were generated, including 10.02 billion for ethanol and 149.36 million for nonester renewable diesel.

More than 345.72 million D4 biomass-based diesel RINs were generated in August, including 270.77 million generated for biodiesel by domestic producers, 36.33 million generated for nonester renewable diesel by foreign entities, 23.41 million generated for nonester renewable diesel by domestic producers, 15.08 million generated for biodiesel by importers, and 112,378 generated for renewable jet fuel by domestic producers.

During the first nine months of the year, nearly 2.43 billion D4 RINs were generated, including 1.93 billion for biodiesel, 489.34 million for nonester renewable diesel and 1.64 million for renewable jet fuel.
