Xebec to supply PSA units to biogas projects in Brazil, France

In late November, Xebec Adsorption Inc. announced orders to supply pressure swing adsorption (PSA) units to a large landfill gas project near Sao Paulo, Brazil, and several biogas projects in France.

On Nov. 19, the company announced it will supply a stand-alone PSA unit to Brazil-based Gasgrid Gas e Energia S.A. The unit will be used to purify biomethane into renewable natural gas (RNG) with a heating value that will exceed the 685/2017 Brazilian Gas Resolution (Standard) specifications, which is a standard developed by local government to specify the minimum biomethane quality needed to distribute and/or inject into a conventional natural gas pipeline.

The PSA system, also known as a nitrogen rejection unit, will have a calorific value in the range of 35,000 to 43,000 kilojoules per cubic meter and be located at a large landfill site in Sao Paulo.

Less than two weeks later, on Nov. 29, Xebec announced it has received an order for multiple PSA units to be delivered in France next year. The company said its French partner has won contracts for biogas upgrading systems under which Xebec will supply core technology, while the partner will provide the balance of the plant for biogas upgrading systems.
