USDA: January wood pellet exports reach 386,779 tons

On March 27, the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service released updated export data that indicates the U.S. exported 386,778.7 metric tons of wood pellets in January, up from the 374,531.2 tons exported in January 2018.

According to the UDSA data, the total value of the 386,778.7 tons of wood pellets exported in January was approximately $53.92 million.

The U.K. was the top destination for U.S. wood pellets, with 239,027.9 metric tons exported to the country in January at a value of $33.44 million. The data also shows exports to Denmark reached 55,665.9 tons in January at a value of $9.46 million. Exports to Belgium-Luxembourg reached 46,022.6 tons in January at a value of $3.83 million, while exports to Italy reached 43,244.2 tons at a value of $6.28 million. Exports to Canada were at 2,602.8 tons at a value of $828,000.
