SSE to build Scotland's largest biogas plant
The plant will be capable of annually processing about 75,000 metric tons of waste to generate approximately 2.5 megawatts of electricity. SSE's project partner, William Tracey Ltd., has signed a 25-year contract with the company to supply feedstock to the plant.
SSE expects the project, which was awarded a £2.2 million ($2.9 million) grant from Zero Waste Scotland's Organics Capital Grants Program, to be operational by 2011.
