Biomass Magazine's New Online Biomass Power Map
Biomass Magazine has a new web-based map of biomass power plants located in the U.S. We moved away from our old interface and have incorporated Google Map technology to display the location of power plants greater that 1 MW in the U.S. that consume biomass and deliver electricity for the grid. The Google Map interface offers greater functionality to the online Biomass Power Map. Users are now able to zoom in on actual images of the facility to identify features of the plant. Take a minute to check out Ameresco’s Savannah River Site Cogeneration Facility, winner of last year’s Ground Breaker of the Year Award at the International Biomass Conference & Expo; the type fuel off-loading technology and fuel storage strategy are easily seen in the image. Each biomass power plant listed by Biomass Magazine is linked to a satellite image of the plant. We also list each plant’s location by city and state, nameplate capacity, whether the plant employs CHP, fuel feedstock, whether the plant cofires with coal, and the plant's website. Biomass Magazine’s new online Biomass Power Map furthers our cause of provide as clear a picture of the biomass-to-energy industry as possible.
