Study points out inherent flaws in Manomet woody biomass study A new study contradicting the findings of the well-known 2010 Massachusetts biomass study by the Manomet Center for Conservation Sciences points out inherent flaws and incorrect assumptions in the Manomet authors' methodology. RWE opens world's largest wood pellet plant European power utility RWE Innogy has officially opened its 750,000 metric ton-per-year wood pellet manufacturing plant on a 740-acre site near Waycross, Ga., following a ribbon-cutting ceremony held late last week. READ MORE SHARE
	Waste Management invests in Agnion's gasifier Texas-based Waste Management Inc. has made a strategic investment in Delaware-based Agnion Energy Inc. to advance Agnion's allothermal gasification technology. EPA announces next step for boiler and incinerator standards The EPA is seeking additional public feedback and gathering more information on the final standards for boilers and certain incinerators that were issued in February. D.C. Water launches biomass AD, CHP project The District of Columbia Water & Sewer Authority has launched two projects at its Blue Plains Wastewater Treatment Plant that will generate heat and power from biosolids and reduce the amount of nitrogen in the anaerobic digester effluent. READ MORE SHARE
Maryland governor to sign bill making MSW renewable source Maryland's Gov. Martin O'Malley said he intends to sign into law Senate Bill 690, allowing municipal solid waste to classify as a Tier I renewable in the state and therefore receive renewable energy credits under its renewable portfolio standard.
