Enviva to construct Alabama pellet plant


Enviva is moving forward with plans to construct a new wood pellet plant in Sumter County, Alabama, and increase the production capacity of its existing wood pellet plant Sampson County, North Carolina.

UDSA: US wood pellet exports reach 738,300 tons in August


The U.S. exported 738,300.5 tons of wood pellets in August, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on Oct. 4. Pellet exports were up when compared to both July 2019 and August 2018.

EIA: 2 million households to heat with wood this winter


The U.S. Energy Information Administration predicts that nearly 2 million, or approximately 2 percent, U.S. households will use cord wood or wood pellets as a primary residential space heating fuel for the 2019-’20 winter.

EIA: Densified biomass sales reach 780,000 tons in June


The U.S. Energy Information Administration recently released data showing U.S. manufacturers produced 770,000 tons of densified biomass fuel in June, with sales reaching 780,000 tons. Exports reached more than 648,000 tons for the month.

UK: Energy production from biomass, waste up 10% in Q2


The U.K. government has announced energy production from bioenergy and waste was up 10.4 percent during the second quarter of 2019 when compared to the same period of 2018. The growth is attributed to increased capacity.
