UDSA: US pellet exports reach nearly 778,000 tons in November


The U.S. exported 777,976.5 tons of wood pellets in November, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on Jan. 7. Exports were up when compared to both the previous month and November 2018.

Calgren Dairy Fuels, SoCalGas announce expansion of RNG project


Calgren Dairy Fuels and Southern California Gas Co. on Jan. 13 announced that four additional Central Valley dairies have started sending methane produced from cow manure to Calgren's biogas operation in Pixley, where it is processed into RNG.

EPA: 19.75 billion RINs generated in 2019


The U.S. EPA has released updated renewable identification number (RIN) generation data showing more than 1.74 billion RINs were generated under the Renewable Fuel Standard in December, bringing total RIN generation for 2019 to 19.75 billion.

REG, Phillips 66 cancel plans for renewable diesel plant


REG and Phillips 66 announced on Jan. 21 the cancellation of their joint effort to construct a 250 MMgy renewable diesel plant in Ferndale, Washington. The companies cited permitting delays and uncertainties as reasons for the action.

EPA: 21 SRE petitions now pending for compliance year 2019


The U.S. EPA released updated small refinery exemption (SRE) data on Jan. 16, reporting that five new SRE petitions have been filed under the Renewable Fuel Standard for compliance year 2019, up from 16 petitions that had been filed as of Dec. 19.

Brightmark Energy announces Florida RNG project


Brightmark Energy has partnered with four dairy farms in central Florida to build and operate three anaerobic digesters that will convert a total of 230,000 tons of dairy manure per year from 9,900 cows into renewable natural gas (RNG).

Renewables account for record share of UK electricity in Q3 2019


The U.K. recently released third quarter 2019 energy statistics, reporting the renewables share of electricity generation reached a record 38.9 percent during the quarter, up from 32.9 percent during the same period of 2018.

EIA predicts modest increase for waste biomass power capacity
