Phillips 66 ramps up renewable diesel production


Phillips 66 on Aug. 3 announced the hydrotreater conversion at its refinery in Rodeo, California, reached full production in July. The facility can produce up to 8,000 barrels per day of renewable diesel, equivalent to approximately 120 MMgy.

UK seeks comments on low-carbon hydrogen strategy


The U.K. government on Aug. 17 published a report that identifies and compares options for a standard to define “low-carbon hydrogen.” It provides lifecycle GHG estimates for a variety of hydrogen pathways, including those focused on biomass.

Strategic Biofuels LLC announced Aug. 11 that its carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) test well program was successfully completed at the company’s Louisiana Green Fuels Project in Caldwell Parish, Louisiana.

EPA approves RFS pathway filed by Koole, Neste


The U.S. EPA has approved an RFS pathway filed on behalf of Koole Tankstorage Botlek V.B. and Neste Oyj. The pathway will allow Koole to generate RINs for renewable jet fuel and renewable diesel bottoms fractionated from Neste's renewable diesel.

EIA: US biofuel capacity, feedstock consumption up in May


U.S. biofuel production capacity expanded slightly in May, reaching 20.795 billion gallons, up from 20.777 billion gallons in April. Total feedstock consumption was approximately 26.768 billion pounds in May, up from 24.296 billion pounds in April.
