The U.S. Department of Energy on May 7 issued a request for information seeking stakeholder input on ways to decarbonize the off-road transportation sector, including through the use of biodiesel, renewable diesel, RNG and other renewables.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration currently predicts renewables will account for 23% of U.S. electricity generation this year, increasing to 25% next year, according to the agency’s latest Short-Term Energy Outlook, released May 7.

The Treasury Department and IRS on April 30 released new guidance on the SAF tax credit and announced the launch of the 40BSAF-GREET 2024 model, which incorporates a pilot-program to encourage the use of climate-smart ag practices for SAF feedstocks.
On April 29, nine trade associations representing feedstock providers, advanced biofuel producers, and low-carbon fuel customers wrote to the U.S. EPA, urging the agency to propose and finalize robust 2026 RFS volumes by the statutory deadline.
