DOE announces biomass advisory committee meeting

The U.S. Department of Energy has announced an open meeting of the Biomass Research and Development Technical Advisory Committee will be held March 5-6 in Washington, D.C.

According to a notice posted in the Federal Register, the committee was established by the Biomass R&D Act of 2000 and reauthorized in the 2014 Farm Bill. It provides advice and recommendations to the secretary of energy and the secretary of agriculture that promote research and development leading to the production of biobased fuels and products.

The agenda is scheduled to include an update on USDA and DOE biomass research and development activities. It will also include an update on the Biomass Research and Development Initiative and an update on the DOE Bioenergy Technologies Office upcoming funding opportunities announcements. In addition, the meeting is scheduled to address the committee plan for 2015.

Members of the public are welcome to observe the business of the committee. Information on how to attend the meeting, provide oral comments at the meeting, or submit written statements before or after the meeting is available on the Federal Register website. According to the DOE, meeting minutes will be available within 60 days following the event.
