The U.S. EPA has released renewable identification number (RIN) generation data for October, reporting that more than 1.54 billion RINs were generated during the month, bringing the total for the first 10 months of the year to net total of nearly 14.79 billion RINs.

Nearly 12.04 million D3 cellulosic biofuel RINs were generated in October, bringing the year-to-date net total to more than 99.98 million. During the first the first 10 months of the year, nearly 1.88 million D3 RINs were generated for ethanol, with 57.49 million generated for renewable compressed natural gas and 41.33 million generated for renewable liquefied natural gas.

No D7 cellulosic diesel RINs were generated in October. The net total D7 RINs for the first 10 months of the year is 199,504, all of which were generated for cellulosic heating oil.

Nearly 12.26 million D5 advanced biofuel RINs were generated in October, bringing the net total for the first half of the year to 102.69 million. Approximately 74.21 million D5 RINs have been generated for ethanol so far this year, with 20.48 million generated for naptha, 578,215 for heating oil, 7.43 million for non-ester renewable diesel, and 5,022 for renewable compressed natural gas.

Approximately 1.27 billion D6 renewable fuel RINs were generated in October, bringing the year-to-date net total to 12.28 billion. The vast majority, 11.9 billion, D6 RINs have been generated for ethanol so far this year, with 100.04 million generated for biodiesel and 288.91 million generated for non-ester renewable diesel.

More than 251.19 million D4 biomass-based diesel RINs were generated in October, bringing the net total for the first 10 months of the year to 2.3 billion. More than 1.86 billion D6 RINs have been generated for biodiesel since the beginning of the year, along with 443.76 million for non-ester renewable diesel.

According to the EPA, of the 14.79 billion RINs generated so far this year, 564.47 million have been retired, with 599.43 million locked and available and 13.63 billion unlocked and available.
