Bayou Wood Pellets equipment to be sold at auction
Maas Companies Inc. has announced it will liquidate the assets West Monroe, Louisiana-based Bayou Wood Pellets via a lender-ordered auction on Sept. 20. The 14,000 square foot industrial building and 130,000-ton-per-year wood pellet equipment will be sold separately.
Information published to Maas Companies’ website indicates the pellet plant produced hardwood/softwood blend pellets used for residential and commercial heating. It took in sawdust from various wood processing operations as feedstock. Maas Companies also noted the plant has been idle since a fire during the summer of 2015 damaged the truck dumper and in-feed system. The remaining components of the pellet mill, however, were not impacted by the fire.
Equipment highlights include: three Munch pellet mills; two La Meccanica pellet mills; Scafo Corp. pellet storage silo; MFS-Stormer pellet storage silo; Hayes & Stoltz elevator leg; Scafco Corp. elevator leg; Rice Lake Survivor pit less truck scale; two Bliss hammer mills; and a 2014 Volvo L70G loader with TAG 7 cubic foot bucket. According to Mass Industries, most of the equipment was purchased new in 2008.
Open houses are scheduled for Aug. 30, Sept. 19 and Sept. 20. Additional information is available on the Maas Companies website.
