EPA: 33.68 million cellulosic RINs generated in April
The U.S. EPA has released renewable identification number (RIN) generation data for April, reporting that more than 1.69 billion RINs were generated during the month, including more than 33.68 million cellulosic RINs.
More than 33.44 million D3 cellulosic biofuel RINs were generated during the month, including 25.62 million generated for compressed renewable natural gas (RNG) by domestic producers, 4.42 million for liquefied RNG by domestic producers, 2.08 million for liquefied RNG by importers, 925,962 for compressed RNG by importers, and 401,898 for cellulosic ethanol by domestic producers.
The 33.44 million D3 RINs generated in April brings the total for the first four months of the year to 98.16 million. That volume includes 69.84 million generated for compressed RNG by domestic producers, 12.97 million for liquefied RNG by domestic producers, 5.96 million for liquefied RNG by importers, 4.26 million for cellulosic ethanol by importers, 2.76 million for compressed RNG by importers and 2.36 million for cellulosic ethanol by domestic producers.
EOA data shows 239,288 D7 cellulosic diesel RINs were generated in April, all for cellulosic heating oil by importers. Nearly 1.04 million D7 RINs were generated during the first four months of the year, all for cellulosic heating oil by importers.
Nearly 23.59 million D5 advanced biofuel RINs were generated in April, including 13.42 million for ethanol by importers, 4.65 million for nonester renewable diesel by domestic producers, 2.84 million for naphtha by domestic producers, 1.88 million for ethanol by domestic producers, 535,422 for LPG by domestic producers, 249,595 for renewable heating oil by domestic producers, and 6,004 for compressed RNG by domestic producers.
The 23.59 million D5 RINs generated in April brings the total for the first four months of 2019 to 62.17 million. That volumes includes 19.94 million for ethanol by importers, 19.6 million for nonester renewable diesel by domestic producers, 12.06 million for naphtha by domestic producers, 8.13 million for ethanol by domestic producers, 1.8 million for renewable heating oil by domestic producers, 1.59 million for LPG by domestic producers and 49,230 for compressed RNG.
Nearly 1.26 billion D6 renewable fuel RINs were generated in April, including 1.24 billion for ethanol by domestic producers, 18.95 million for nonester renewable diesel by foreign entities and 932,842 for ethanol by importers.
The 1.26 billion D6 RINs generated in April brings the total for the first four months of the year to 4.83 billion. That volume includes 4.74 billion generated for ethanol by domestic producers, 82.05 million generated for nonester renewable diesel by foreign entities, 3.87 million generated for ethanol by importers and 16,767 generated for biodiesel by domestic producers.
Nearly 376.02 million D4 biomass-based diesel RINs were generated in April, including 241.24 million for biodiesel by domestic producers, 60.34 million for nonester renewable diesel by domestic producers, 41.76 million for nonester renewable diesel by foreign entities, 32.38 million for biodiesel by importers and 392,560 for renewable jet fuel by domestic producers.
The 376.02 million D4 RINs generated in April brings the total for the first four months of 2019 to 1.26 billion. That volume includes 800.24 million for biodiesel by domestic producers, 237.47 million for nonester renewable diesel by domestic producers, 138.18 million for nonester renewable diesel by foreign entities, 84.53 million for biodiesel by importers, 1.3 million for renewable jet fuel by domestic producers and 7,704 for renewable heating oil by domestic producers.
According to EPA data, more than 6.25 billion RINs have been generated so far this year, up from the 6.09 billion RINs that were generated during the same period of 2018.
