Teaneck, N.J.-based private equity firm Hudson Clean Energy Partners has appointed Paul Ho as the company's new principal, who will oversee its efforts in the biofuels and biomass sectors.
Ho has more than 14 years experience in the energy sector, including a focus on renewable energy and particularly on alternative fuels since 2005. Most recently, Ho worked for Credit Suisse in New York, where, since 1994, he was director in the alternative energy group in charge of the firm's banking efforts in alternative fuels on a global basis.
At Credit Suisse, Ho led several defining transactions in the biofuels industry, including Hawkeye Renewables' first biofuels capital markets financing in 2005 and the company's first large-scale biofuels merger and acquisition deal in 2006. Ho was also involved in the largest biofuels initial public offering transaction for Cosan in 2007.
Ho also covered other alternative energy clients, including companies involved in the biomass, waste-to-energy, coal-to-liquids, coal gasification, wind, as well as wind equipment manufacturing and hydro. Additionally, he has worked closely with many leading private equity outfits with respect to their clean energy investments.
Prior to his renewable energy focus, Ho had extensive experience in energy sector bond and bank financings, equity offerings, mergers and acquisitions and advisory assignments spanning five continents, with aggregate transaction value worth over $50 billion.
"It's a rare opportunity to be able to work with people who are industry leaders with impeccable business credentials, but also incredibly passionate about their business," Ho said. "I really look forward to being a part of the Hudson team."
