StormFisher Biogas and ECB Enviro North America are partnering to construct a 3.2-megawatt plant in Lethbridge, Alberta. The biogas facility will be powered by organic byproducts from local livestock operations, meat and food processing industries, restaurants and schools.

It is expected to produce enough electricity to power 3,000 homes, as well as organic fertilizer. The facility has received all necessary permits and construction is slated to begin in the spring, with completion in 2010.

StormFisher has also partnered with environmental solution provider Sanimax to build eight biogas plants in the Great Lakes region. (Read: "Sanimax, StormFisher to build eight biogas plants.") The company is developing a total of 18 plants across North America in the next five years; the first three to go on line in Ontario this year.
