Cambridge, Mass.-based Metabolix Inc. cofounder and Chief Scientific Officer Oliver Peoples received the 2008 Personal Contribution to Bioplastics Award during the 10th Annual Bioplastics Conference's Bioplastics Awards ceremony in Munich, Germany. Peoples is credited with the development of Mirel, a family of biobased, sustainable and biodegradable plastics that will be marketed by Telles, a joint venture formed in 2007 by Metabolix and Archer Daniels Midland Co.
