BTEC to host biomass heating, CHP webinars

Posted September 22, 2010, at 4:01 p.m. CST

The Biomass Thermal Energy Council will be hosting a series of free educational webinars focused on biomass thermal energy, heating and cogeneration/combined heat and power (CHP).

BTEC Program Associate Joseph Seymour said anyone interested in using biomass for thermal generation will find these webinars useful, regardless of fuel or technology.

The first in the series, The Opportunity of Biomass Energy: Renewable Heating and CHP, will be held Sept. 28 at 3 p.m. EDT. The webinar will provide an overview of the biomass thermal industry, including market background, woody and nonwoody feedstocks, supply chains, economic impacts, available technologies, and potential challenges and opportunities.

Featured presenters include Charlie Niebling, general manager of New England Wood Pellet, T.J. Morice, vice president of operations and marketing at Marth Wood Supply and Kyle Gibeault, deputy director of BTEC.

The Webinars are being funded with a U.S. Forest Service Wood Education and Resource Center grant that was awarded to BTEC in June to advance education and outreach on biomass thermal energy.
