The USDA has announced a new round of payments to biofuel producers under the Advanced Biofuel Payment Program. USDA Rural Development Acting Under Secretary Doug O&rsquo;Brien made the announcement Sept. 12 on behalf of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack at the National Advanced Biofuels Conference &amp; Expo in Omaha, Neb.
According to the USDA, 188 producers are receiving combined payments of nearly $15.5 million under this round of funding.
Producing advanced biofuels is a major component of the drive to take control of America's energy future by developing domestic, renewable energy sources," O'Brien said. "These payments represent the Obama Administration's commitment to support an 'all-of-the-above' energy strategy."
The Advanced Biofuel Payment Program was established by the 2008 Farm Bill. It makes payments to eligible biofuel producers based on the quantity of advanced biofuels produced from renewable biomass, other than corn starch.
Biofuel producers that received payments for biogas and pellet production include:
