The planned merger between Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern hit a snag on Jan. 16 when the Surface Transportation Board issued a unanimous decision finding that the merger application is incomplete.
Bunge’s Brazilian operation has become the first company to certify soybeans for use in the production of SAF under the ISCC CORSIA PLUS protocol, an advanced certification recognized by the International Civil Aviation Organization.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration currently expects the production of renewable diesel and other biofuels, including SAF, to expand in 2027, according to the agency’s latest Short-Term Energy Outlook, released Jan. 13.
The USDA on Dec. 31 announced the per-acre payment rates for $11 billion of the $12 billion farm aid package announced in December. U.S. corn, soybean and sorghum farmers will receive respective per-acre payments of $44.36, $30.88, and $48.11.
The USDA reduced its forecast for 2025-’26 soybean oil use in biofuel production in its latest World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report, released Jan. 12. The forecast price for soybean oil was unchanged.
