USDA: US exports 880,876 metric tons of wood pellets in August The U.S. exported 880,876 metric tons of wood pellets in August, up from 649,185.7 metric tons the previous month and 647,922.9 metric tons in August 2021, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on Oct. 5. Dane County to expand Wisconsin RNG project Dane County, Wisconsin, has announced plans to increase the production capacity of its renewable natural gas (RNG) facility. The county also said it plans to capture carbon emissions from the gas plant itself. READ MORE SHARE
Honeywell announces new ethanol-to-jet technology Honeywell on Oct. 10 announced a new, innovative ethanol-to-jet fuel (ETJ) processing technology that allows producers to convert corn-based, cellulosic, or sugar-based ethanol into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). READ MORE SHARE
Chevron, CalBio expand partnership on dairy biomethane projects Chevron U.S.A. Inc., a subsidiary of Chevron Corp., and California Bioenergy LLC (CalBio) announced a joint investment in their second holding company to produce and market dairy biomethane as an RNG transportation fuel in California. DOE offers $2.1B to support CO2 transportation infrastructure The U.S. Department of Energy on Oct. 6 began accepting letters of interest from applicants for loans under a new $2.1 billion Carbon Dioxide Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation program. READ MORE SHARE
Divert announces RNG offtake agreement with bp Divert Inc. on Oct. 6 announced a 10-year renewable natural gas (RNG) offtake agreement with bp worth approximately $175 million. Under the new agreement, bp expects to purchase RNG from three facilities under development by Divert. READ MORE SHARE
Missouri extends wood energy tax credit program through 2028 Missouri Gov. Mike Parson on Oct. 5 signed HB 3. The legislation, in part, retroactively extends the state’s wood energy tax credit program from June 30, 2020, through June 30, 2028. Drax to acquire remaining 10% interest in Alabama Pellets Drax has agreed to acquire the remaining 10 percent minority interest in the Alabama Pellets LLC joint venture from Two Rivers Lumber Co LLC for $22 million.
