bp to acquire RNG producer Archaea Energy for $4.1 billion Archaea Energy Inc. on Oct. 17 announced that it has agreed to be acquired by bp for approximately $4.1 billion, including $3.3 billion in cash and $800 million of net debt. EIA predicts higher winter heating costs, drop in wood heating The U.S. EIA on Oct. 12 released its 2022-’23 Winter Fuels Outlook, predicting that U.S. households will face increased energy costs this winter due to higher fuel prices combined with higher heating demand caused by lower expected temperatures. 	Eni considers building a third biorefinery in Livorno, Italy Eni is investigating the opportunity to build a new biorefinery at the company's industrial site in Livorno, Italy. The project would include a feedstock pretreatment unit, an Ecofining plant, and facility to produce hydrogen from methane. READ MORE SHARE
Japan’s draft policy on aviation decarbonization features SAF The Japanese government is seeking public comments on a draft policy to promote decarbonization in the aviation industry. The policy, in part, would require flights to be carbon neutral by 2050 and require airlines to use SAF. READ MORE SHARE
RNG project under development at Jack Daniel’s distillery TC Energy Corp. is investing $29.3 million investment in a RNG production facility near the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee. Owned by Lynchburg Renewable Fuels LLC, the facility will produce RNG from distillery byproducts. READ MORE SHARE
Tidewater Renewables subsidiary to supply RNG to ForstisBC Tidewater Renewables Ltd. has announced that its majority owned subsidiary Rimrock Renewables Ltd. EIA: Densified biomass fuel sales at 1.07 million tons in June The U.S. Energy Information Administration recently released data showing U.S. manufacturers produced approximately 930,000 tons of densified biomass fuel in June, with sales reaching 1.07 million tons. READ MORE SHARE
Enviva responds to short-seller report Enviva Inc. on Oct. 12 issued a statement in response to allegations made in a report by a self-proclaimed short seller. According to Enviva, the report contains numerous errors and repeats previous unsupported speculation. READ MORE SHARE
USDA maintains forecast for soybean oil use in biofuel production The USDA maintained its forecast for 2022-’23 soybean oil use in biofuel production in its latest World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report, released Oct. 12.
