EPA to release 2023 RFS proposed rule by Nov. 30 The U.S. EPA and Growth Energy filed a notice with the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia on Nov. 4 agreeing to extend the Nov. 16 deadline for the release of a proposed rule to set 2023 RFS RVOs. USDA: Wood pellet exports top 766,508 metric tons in September The U.S. exported 766,508.2 metric tons of wood pellets in September, down from 880,876 metric tons the previous month, but up from 690,514.5 metric tons in September 2021, according to date released by the USDA FAS on Nov. 3. 	Enviva releases Q3 results, continues to expand capacity Enviva released Q3 financial results on Nov. 3, reporting in the company benefited from high wood pellet prices during the three-month period. USDA maintains forecast for soybean oil use in biofuel production The USDA maintained its forecast for 2022-’23 soybean oil use in biofuel production in its latest World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report, released Nov. 9. Avista issues request for proposals seeking RNG supplies Avista Utilities, an electricity and natural gas supplier that serves parts of Washington, Idaho and Oregon, has issued a request for proposals (RFP) seeking renewable natural gas (RNG) resources. Bids are due Dec. 20. READ MORE SHARE
Aemetis discusses progress with ethanol, biogas projects Aemetis Inc. released third quarter financial results on Nov. 3, reporting a 44 percent increase in revenue. NextEra Energy announces plans for Alabama RNG project NextEra Energy Resources LLC and Coffee County, Alabama, announced plans to build the first landfill renewable natural gas (RNG) production facility in the state of Alabama. Biofuel groups call GAO report on SREs shoddy, obsolete Representatives of the biofuels industry are slamming a report on the Renewable Fuel Standard’s small refinery exemption (SRE) program released by the U.S. Government Accountability Office on Nov. 3, calling the report shoddy and obsolete. CVR Energy ramps up renewable diesel production CVR Energy Inc. has reported its renewable diesel unit at the Wynnewood refinery in Oklahoma continued to increase production during the third quarter. A feedstock pretreatment unit is expected to be operational next year. READ MORE SHARE
Gevo announces SAF sales agreement with Iberia Airlines Gevo Inc. has announced a new fuel sales agreement with Iberia Airlines, which is part of International Airlines Group . The agreement provides Iberia Airlines 6 million gallons per year of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) for five years. READ MORE SHARE
Green Investment Group acquires bioenergy platform Macquarie Asset Management’s Green Investment Group, via its Macquarie GIG Energy Transition Solutions fund, has acquired BayWa r.e. Bioenergy GmbH from BayWa r.e. AG. BayWa r.e. Bioenergy currrently operates five biogas plants. READ MORE SHARE
Acciona Energía to build 50 MW biomass plant in Spain Acciona Energía has announced the construction of a 49.9 MW biomass plant in the municipality of Logrosán (Cáceres, Extremadura) in Spain.
