EPA: 2022 RFS RIN generation reaches 21.27 billion The U.S. EPA has announced 1.89 billion RINs were generated under the RFS in December, down from 2.02 billion generated in December 2021. Total RIN generation for 2022 reached nearly 21.27 billion, up from 19.93 billion generated in 2021. READ MORE SHARE
Vertex: Alabama plant to begin renewable diesel production in Q2 Vertex Energy Inc. on Jan. 17 has announced the renewable diesel conversion project at its refinery in Mobile, Alabama, is expected to be mechanically complete in March. 	Camber Energy to purchase renewable diesel plant in Nevada Camber Energy Inc. on Jan. 23 announced it has entered an agreement to purchase a renewable diesel plant located in Reno, Nevada. The facility, known as New Rise Renewables Reno, has a nameplate capacity of 43 MMgy. READ MORE SHARE
Clean Energy to provide RNG to San Diego MTS Clean Energy Fuels Corp. has been awarded a contract by San Diego Metropolitan Transit System to provide an expected 86 million gallons of RNG to operate its bus fleet. The MTS fleet includes 764 buses, including 595 that run on RNG. READ MORE SHARE
Emirates completes engine ground testing with 100 percent SAF Emirates has successfully completed the ground engine testing for one of its GE90 engines on a Boeing 777-300ER using 100 percent sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). 	Gevo provides update of Net Zero 1 SAF project Gevo Inc. currently expects to make a final investment decision on its Net Zero 1 (NZ1) project during the second half of this year, according a company and project update released Jan. 19. Drax announces $50M expansion to Aliceville facility As global demand for biomass continues to surge, Drax has announced a $50 million expansion at its Aliceville, Alabama, wood pellet plant that will increase capacity by nearly 50 percent, from 250,000 tons to 380,000 tons. READ MORE SHARE
Yosemite Clean Energy wins $1M for biomass-to-hydrogen projects Yosemite Clean Energy was selected to receive two $500,000 Forest Biomass to Carbon-Negative Biofuels grants from the California Department of Conservation. UAE companies partner with BP to explore production of SAF Masdar, ADNOC, bp, Tadweer and Etihad Airways have announced an agreement to conduct a joint feasibility study on exploring the production of SAF and other products, such as renewable diesel, in the UAE from MSW and renewable hydrogen. EPA: 10 new SRE petitions filed, 22 SRE petitions now pending The U.S. EPA on Jan. 19 released data showing that 10 new SRE petitions have been filed under the RFS over the past month. A total of 22 SRE petitions are now pending, including two that were previously declared a as ineligible. READ MORE SHARE
Japan proposes default GHG values for solid biobased fuels Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has proposed default GHG emissions values and calculation methods for biobased fuels that are eligible to participate the country’s feed-in tariff and feed-in premium (FIT/FIP) programs.
