USDA award to NIU could lead to world’s first biomass pipeline Northern Illinois University’s Mahdi Vaezi is investigating the feasibility of constructing an innovative, first-of-its-kind biomass pipeline, which would be located in Maine. Ag commissioners advocate for higher biomass-based diesel RVOs The ag commissioners of Iowa, Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, South Carolina, Texas and West Virginia are urging the U.S. EPA to boost biomass-based diesel RVOs in the upcoming RFS rule. EIA: US biofuels capacity, feedstock consumption up in March U.S. operatable biofuels capacity expanded by 381 MMgy in March, with gains for renewable diesel, ethanol, and biodiesel. Vertex Energy begins commercial production of renewable diesel Vertex Energy Inc. on May 31 announced the successful completion of the startup procedures for its renewable diesel conversion project at its Mobile, Alabama, refining facility. Canada invests in renewable diesel, SAF conversion project The Canadian government on May 31 announced plans to invest $86 million into a project that is converting an oil refinery located in Come By Chance, Newfoundland and Labrador, into a biorefinery that will produce renewable diesel and SAF. UK agency opens public comment period on Drax BECCS application The U.K. Environment Agency on June 1 announced the opening of a public comment period on Drax Power Ltd.’s proposals to develop bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) at Drax Power Station. READ MORE SHARE
