EPA to hold webinar on regulatory provisions of RFS ‘set’ rule The U.S. EPA has announced it will hold a public webinar on Sept. 7 to discuss the implementation of new regulatory provisions included in the final Renewable Fuel Standard “set” rule, which was released on June 21. READ MORE SHARE
UK publishes Biomass Strategy, report on BECCS The U.K. government on Aug. 10 released its Biomass Strategy, which describes the steps the government intends to take to strengthen biomass sustainability. 	Tidewater’s renewable diesel plant to begin production in August Tidewater Renewables Ltd. on Aug. 10 announced that its 3,000-barrel-per-day (45.99 MMgy) renewable diesel complex located at its refinery in Prince Geroge, British Columbia, is mechanically complete and expected to begin production in late August. Opal Fuels reports 20% increase in RNG production for Q2 Opal Fuels Inc. released second quarter financial results on Aug. 9, reporting renewable natural gas (RNG) production was up 20 percent when compared to the same period of last year. Montauk signs agreement with Duke Energy, releases Q2 results Montauk Renewables Inc. on Aug. 9 announced it has signed a REC agreement with Duke Energy for a proposed waste-to-energy facility in North Carolina. 	Gevo announces modularized approach to ATJ technology Gevo Inc. released second quarter financial results on Aug. 10, reporting that its RNG business continues to ramp up production and indicating that the company is pivoting to a modularized approach for its alcohol-to-jet (ATJ) technology. SoCalGas files application to develop RNG pilot project SoCalGas has filed an application with the California Public Utilities Commission to support the development of a pilot project that would utilize organic waste such as chipped wood, along with nut shells, and turn it into RNG. READ MORE SHARE
USDA maintains forecast for 2023-’24 soybean oil use in biofuel The USDA maintained its forecast for 2023-’24 soybean oil use in biofuel production in its latest WASDE report, released Aug. 11. The forecast for 2022-’23 soybean oil use in biofuel production was revised up. READ MORE SHARE
Prairie Clean Energy announces flax straw purchasing Saskatchewan-based Prairie Clean Energy has announced it will start buying flax straw from Canadian producers on the prairies this fall as the company starts its first foray into scaling up production of its flax pellets. READ MORE SHARE
Mote kicks off second biomass-to-hydrogen project in California Mote Inc. has received $1.2 million in grant funding from the U.S. Forest Service, the California Department of Conservation, and the California Department of Forestry to establish its second biomass-to-hydrogen and carbon sequestration plant.
