UK government to launch SAF revenue support scheme The U.K. government on Sept. 4 announced plans to introduce a revenue certainty mechanism to support domestic SAF production. The initiative aims to bolster the development of SAF and drive further investment in SAF projects. READ MORE SHARE
EIA: Biofuel capacity, feedstock use up in June U.S. operable biofuels capacity was up in June, with gains for both ethanol and renewable diesel and associated fuels, according to data released by the U.S. EIA on Aug. 31. Feedstock consumption was also up during the month. READ MORE SHARE
	EU wood pellet consumption forecast to grow in 2023 The European Union consumed a record 24.8 million metric tons of wood pellets in 2022, according to a report filed with the USDA FAS's Global Agricultural Information Network. Consumption is expected to grow to 25.6 million metric tons this year. READ MORE SHARE
EIA: US renewable diesel capacity surpasses biodiesel capacity In January 2023, U.S. production capacity of renewable diesel and other biofuels reached 3 billion gallons per year, surpassing U.S. biodiesel production capacity for the first time, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Technip Energies to supply hydrogen unit to bp SAF project Technip Energies on Aug. 29 announced it has been awarded a contract to supply a hydrogen production unit to bp’s proposed sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel conversion project at its Kwinana refinery in Western Australia. Fiji Airways fuels flight with SAF blend Fiji Airways’ newest Airbus A350-900 XWB aircraft, named the Island of Vatulele, on Aug. 31 arrived into Nadi, Fiji from Singapore, having flown the entire 8,520 kilometer (km) journey powered by a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) blend. READ MORE SHARE
Canadian government invests $5.3 million in BioFuelNet Canada The Canadian government on Aug. 30 announced it is investing up to $5.3 million in an initiative that aims to support the development of biomass supply chains and cutting-edge technologies to produce biomass and value-added agricultural products. Japanese companies partner to develop SAF feedstock supply chain Idemitsu Kosan, a Japanese petroleum company, and LOPS Corp., a Japan-based trading company that supplies oil and fats, on Aug. 24 announced plans to conduct a joint study focused on the procurement of feedstocks for SAF production. Neste enters partnership to enable biobased PET bottles Neste has entered a cooperation with Suntory, ENEOS and Mitsubishi Corp. to enable the production of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) resin made with renewable Neste RE on a commercial scale.
