Rainier Biogas embarks on Washington dairy AD project Washington-based Rainier Biogas LLC is implementing a collaborative, multi-dairy digester project in Enumclaw, Wash., that will produce 1 megawatt of electricity, cow bedding for the participating farms and fertilizer to spread over fields. Research into switchgrass rust resistance gene funded An assistant professor of horticulture at Virginia Tech has been awarded a $1 million grant from the National Institute of Food and Agriculture to develop and deploy rust fungus resistant genes and monitor the pathogen in switchgrass. 	Metso supplies CHP systems to Baltics pellet plants Expanding its portfolio, Metso will supply AS Graanul Invest, the largest pellet producer in the Baltics, with biomass combined-heat-and-power systems at two of its six pellet mills. ReEnergy to buy NewPage cogeneration plant NewPage Corp. is selling the cogeneration facility associated with its Rumford, Maine, paper mill to waste fuel/biomass renewable energy company ReEnergy Holdings LLC, for $61 million. Beaver Wood suspends development in Pownal, Vt. Beaver Wood Energy will delay development on one of its two 29-megawatt combined-heat-and-power facilities in Vermont, saying there is insufficient demand for more than one facility.
