Weltec Biopower GmbH is building a 370 kW biogas plant in Bure, Switzerland for Bio.Etique.Energy SA. The facility's power will be fed into the grid, while surplus heat will be used to heat local training barracks for the Swiss Army.

Danforth Center wins DOE funding to study drought, biomass crops


The U.S. DOE awarded a five-year, $12.1 million grant to researchers at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center and their collaborators to develop a new model plant system, Setaria viridis, to advance bioenergy grasses as a biofuel feedstock.

GE Engines to power Cambodian rice husk power project


GE Energy has signed a contract with Cambodian industrial conglomerate Soma Group to supply two of its engines to power a biomass gasification facility. About 1.5 MW of electricity will be generated in total at the facility using rice husk feedstock.

Fermentation process converts biomass into liquid fuels, hydrogen
