Helius Energy biomass CHP project moves forward

United Kingdom-based Helius Energy PLC has received planning approval from the Moray Council for the installation of a 7.2-megawatt biomass-fired combined heat and power plant at The Combination of Rothes Distillers in Morayshire, Scotland.READ MORE

Wisconsin hospital, brewery partner in CHP project

Gundersen Lutheran Health Systems is partnering with City Brewing Co. LLC in La Crosse, Wis., to generate electricity from biogas. Work on the $3 million combined heat and power project at the brewing facility began Jan. 21. Dudek, a California-based environmental and engineering consulting firm, is teaming up with nanotechnology application developer Catalyx Nanotech Inc. to build facilities at landfills in southern California that will sequester carbon and convert methane gas into green hydrogen and nanomaterials.READ MORE

Ontario, OPG accepting biomass use proposals

The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources has issued a request for expressions of interest on how to turn available wood from its Crown forests into new investments and jobs. Ontario Power Generation has also issued a request for expressions of interest from potential suppliers of biomass-related fuel and transportation services to determine the viability of replacing coal with biomass at existing coal-fired generating stations.READ MORE

Massachusetts dairy farmers form AGreen Energy

A consortium of six dairy farmers in Massachusetts have joined forces to create AGreen Energy, which will provide manure to power small-scale anaerobic digesters on participating farms to generate biogas that can be converted to electricity and sold to the public utility grid.READ MORE

Renewable energy offices will help expedite projects
