Albany Green Energy to develop 50 MW biomass plant in Georgia Proctor & Gamble Co. and Constellation Energy have announced the development of a 50 MW biomass plant that will provide all of the steam needs for P&G's largest U.S. facility in Albany, Georgia. Port improvements underway at site of future Cool Planet facility Site work is progressing at the site of Cool Plant Energy Systems' proposed biorefinery at the Port of Alexandria in Louisiana. Construction of the biorefinery is expected to kick off later this year, with production commencing in 2016. READ MORE SHARE
	Sen. Wyden issues letter to GSA in support of biomass energy Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., recently issued a letter to Dan Tangherlini, administrator of the General Services Administration, and Thomas Tidwell, chief of the U.S. Forest Service, advocating for the use of biomass energy in federal buildings. EU to investigate U.K. support of Lynemouth biomass conversion On Feb. 19, the European Commission announced it has opened an in-depth investigation to assess whether the U.K.'s plans to support the biomass conversion of the coal-fired Lynemouth power plant are in line with European Union state aid rules. Republic Services releases 2014 financial results Republic Services Inc. has released 2014 fourth quarter and full year earnings, reporting a net income for the quarter of $50.3 million, or 14 cents per diluted share, out of a total year net income of $547.6 million, or $1.53 per diluted share. Rentech secures loan, explores alternatives for nitrogen business Rentech Inc. has announced that GSO Capital Partners LP, the credit investment arm of Blackstone, increased its credit facility for Rentech by up to $63 million. Waste Management announces 2014 earnings and 2015 outlook Waste Management Inc. has released fourth quarter and full year 2014 earnings, reporting $3.44 billion fourth quarter revenues, compared with $3.5 billion for quarter four 2013. Report highlights growth of EU pellet consumption The EurObserv'ER has published a new edition of its Solid Biomass Barometer, reporting consumption of solid biomass in the European Union increased to 91.5 million tons of oil equivalent (Mtoe) in 2013, up 2.9 Mtoe from the previous year. Gevo: Marine industry consortium releases isobutanol test results A consortium of organizations from the recreational marine industry have completed more than four years of testing on Gevo Inc.'s renewable isobutanol. UNB research team receives federal funding for biofuel research The University of New Brunswick will receive $306,200 over three years to develop new technology to help Canada develop better, cleaner and cheaper renewable fuel and strengthen its leadership in this industry. READ MORE SHARE
Applied LNG, BP Energy reach biogas agreement Applied LNG has signed an agreement to purchase biomethane from BP Energy Co. BP Energy will supply Applied LNG with biogas from waste landfill sites. ANSI to be accreditation body for biomass GHG certification The American National Standards Institute has been selected by International Sustainability and Carbon Certification to be the accreditation body for its certification system for sustainability and greenhouse gas emissions related to biomass. Tamar Energy secures financing from the Royal Bank of Scotland Tamar Energy has secured a landmark GBP 32 million ($49.42 million) non-recourse project finance facility, the first such financing facility in the AD industry. The Royal Bank of Scotland plc is providing the seven-year term facility. READ MORE SHARE
Seneca Sustainable Energy receives final operating permit The Lane Regional Air Protection Agency recently issued its final Title V permit to the Seneca Sustainable Energy biomass plant. The granting of this permit confirms that the facility has been operating within its stated pollution limits all along. READ MORE SHARE
German Pellets acquires Nord Energie German Pellets GmbH has acquired the pellet business of Germany-based Nord Energie GmbH & Co., effective Feb. 16. Nord Energie has more than five years experience in pellet trade and logistics. READ MORE SHARE
