US Navy launches Great Green Fleet with 2016 kickoff event Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus and Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack kicked off the U.S. Navy’s Great Green Fleet initiative with the deployment of the USS John C. Navy to deploy Great Green Fleet in San Diego this week On Jan. 20, the U.S. Department of the Navy will launch the first vessels of its Great Green Fleet at the San Diego Naval Air Station North Island, Carrier Pier. The carrier strike group will deploy using alternative fuels. READ MORE SHARE
	Court rejects request to delay implementation of Clean Power Plan On Jan. 21, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Colombia denied a request for a stay that would have prevented the U.S. EPA from implementing the Clean Power Plan until legal challenges are resolved. READ MORE SHARE
Construction begins on England biomass plant Construction has begun on a previously announced 40-MWe biomass cogeneration facility at Port Clarence. Eco2 partnered with Babcock Wilcox Lagan to construct the plant. Glennmont Partners is providing funding. READ MORE SHARE
Novozymes reports drop in bioenergy sales for 2015 Novozymes has released financial results for 2015, reporting sales grew by 4 percent organically last year. Bioenergy sales dropped 5 percent organically. EBIT grew by 15 percent and the EBIT margin was 27.7 percent. Net profit grew by 12 percent. READ MORE SHARE

Eni rolls out renewable diesel blend to 3,500 stations in Italy Eni, the Italian oil major that converted its Venice oil refinery to a renewable diesel manufacturing plant, is rolling out its renewable blended product to 3,500 fuel stations across Italy this month. Hawaii Gas seeks proposals for the supply of biogas Hawaii Gas, the state’s regulated gas utility, has opened a request for proposals (RFP) to purchase raw biogas and/or renewable natural gas (RNG). DOE opens funding opportunity for algae technologies The U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy is accepting applications for up to $15 million in funding to develop algae technologies.
