FERC: US adds 268 MW of biomass capacity in 2017


Data released by the federal government shows the U.S. added 268 MW of biomass capacity last year, more than double the 110 MW of biomass capacity that was installed in 2016. An additional 890 MW of biomass capacity is proposed to be added by 2021.

Pinnacle Renewable Holdings completes IPO in Canada


Canadian pellet producer Pinnacle Renewable Holdings Inc. announced the successful closing of its initial public offering (IPO) and secondary offering of its common shares. The common shares began trading Feb. 6 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

BP Verenium Biofuels plant up for sale


The BP Verenium Biofuels plant in Jennings, Louisiana, is being offered for sale. The 1.4 MMgy demonstration-scale facility celebrated its grand opening in 2008, and was acquired by BP Biofuels North America in mid-2010.

Biogen acquires Scottish AD plant


Biogen has expanded its operations into Scotland through the addition of a 1.5 MW anaerobic digestion facility in Millerhill, Edinburgh. The acquisition has been completed by Ancala Partners LLP from Kelda Water Services for an undisclosed sum.
