FERC: US adds 268 MW of biomass capacity in 2017 Data released by the federal government shows the U.S. added 268 MW of biomass capacity last year, more than double the 110 MW of biomass capacity that was installed in 2016. An additional 890 MW of biomass capacity is proposed to be added by 2021. READ MORE SHARE
Pinnacle Renewable Holdings completes IPO in Canada Canadian pellet producer Pinnacle Renewable Holdings Inc. announced the successful closing of its initial public offering (IPO) and secondary offering of its common shares. The common shares began trading Feb. 6 on the Toronto Stock Exchange. READ MORE SHARE
	USDA withdraws support for the Farm-to-Fleet BPI The USDA Commodity Credit Corp. has withdrawn support for the Farm-to-Fleet biofuel production incentive (BPI), effective Feb 1. BPI payments, however, will continue to be made under existing commitments. READ MORE SHARE
BP Verenium Biofuels plant up for sale The BP Verenium Biofuels plant in Jennings, Louisiana, is being offered for sale. The 1.4 MMgy demonstration-scale facility celebrated its grand opening in 2008, and was acquired by BP Biofuels North America in mid-2010. READ MORE SHARE
CDFA extends application deadline for dairy digester program The California Department of Food and Agriculture has extended the grant application deadline for the Dairy Digester Research and Development Program through Feb. 23. Japanese facility to use Anaergia technology Anaergia Inc. has announced the start of construction at a facility in Japan that will convert farm waste and food waste into renewable energy. Clean Energy reports 37 percent growth in Redeem sales Clean Energy Fuels Corp. recently announced that sales of Redeem, its renewable natural gas (RNG) offering, grew by 32 percent last year, from 60 million gallons in 2016 to 79 million gallons in 2017. READ MORE SHARE
Enerkem raises its largest financing round, adds new investors Enerkem Inc. has completed a C$280 million ($222.82 million) investment round—its largest to date. In addition to new investors BlackRock and Sinobioway, existing investors also participated in this financing. READ MORE SHARE
ElectraTherm supplies generator to Japanese biomass plant ElectraTherm shipped a Power-plus Generator to Japan to generate fuel-free, emission-free electricity. The Power-plus will utilize the waste heat streams from three reciprocating engines running on biomass. READ MORE SHARE

Nuseed, Agrisoma carinata distribution agreement takes flight Agrisoma Biosciences Inc. and Nuseed confirm they are in discussions to develop a distribution agreement for carinata seed. U of Calgary scientists produce better fuel from biowaste Researchers have found a way to produce a higher quality, more stable fuel from biowaste, such as sewage, that is simpler and cleaner than existing methods. Biogen acquires Scottish AD plant Biogen has expanded its operations into Scotland through the addition of a 1.5 MW anaerobic digestion facility in Millerhill, Edinburgh. The acquisition has been completed by Ancala Partners LLP from Kelda Water Services for an undisclosed sum. READ MORE SHARE
UPM considers developing a biorefinery in Finland UPM is studying biofuels development opportunities by starting an environmental impact assessment (EIA) for a possible biorefinery in Mussalo, Kotka, in south-eastern Finland. Vermont’s state constitution is staying warm with wood heat The Vermont State Archives, home to the constitution, is heated with wood. Last fall the Department of Buildings and General Services replaced the aging boilers in the State Archives in Middlesex with two new automatic Froling wood pellet boilers. READ MORE SHARE
