Canada delays development of Clean Fuel Standard regulations


The Canadian government has announced plans to delay implementation of its Clean Fuel Standard. Original plans called for development of the program regulations to be complete next year. That work is now expected to take until 2021.

The U.S. EPA has released renewable identification number (RIN) generation data for June, reporting that more than 1.6 billion RINs were generated during the month, including nearly 25.57 million cellulosic RINs.

UI seeks proposals for densified biomass solid fuel trials


The University of Iowa has opened a RFQL seeking suppliers to develop densified fuel that blends miscanthus with other high-BTU feedstocks. The university intends to attract pellet producers who can supply it with up to 125,000 tons of fuel per year.

Michigan State University has created a green solution for the problem of what to do with animal and food waste at the Detroit Zoo. MSU researcher Dana Kirk and his team worked with the Detroit Zoo to build an anaerobic digester.

Cool Planet, an agricultural technology company focused on soil health solutions, has closed on an additional $20.3 million of new investment and note conversion. The funding will be used to increase overall production of Cool Terra.
