EDA awards $10M grant to build pellet storage at Florida port The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration is awarding a $10 million grant to the Panama City Port Authority in Panama City, Florida, to support the development of a new biomass bulk storage facility. EPA: 37.05 million cellulosic RINs generated in June More than 1.67 billion RINs, including 37.05 million cellulosic RINs, were generated under the Renewable Fuel Standard in June, according to new data released by the U.S. EPA. 	Uskmouth conversion on track, pellet plant begins commissioning SIMEC Atlantis Energy Ltd. has announced the biomass conversion of the coal-fired Uskmouth power station in Newport, U.K., is on track to begin operations by 2021. Velocys raises £7M, secures £2.8M in co-funding from BA, Shell Velocys has secured £7 million ($8.75 million) by way of a placing of more than 233.33 million new ordinary shares. Stora Enso to pilot technology for lignin-based carbon products Finland-based forestry company Stora Enso has announced plans to invest €10 million ($11.15 million) to build a pilot facility that will produce biobased carbon materials from lignin that can be used in batteries. READ MORE SHARE
Enviva thanks NCDEQ for hearing on expansion of Sampson plant Enviva Partners LP issued a statement July 15 thanking the North Carolina DEQ for the opportunity to hear from stakeholders at a public hearing regarding new emission control equipment to be installed at its pellet plant in Sampson County. USDA: $400 million still available for REAP loan guarantees The USDA announced July 18 that more than $400 million is still available for renewable energy system and energy efficiency loan guarantees through the Rural Energy for America Program. Aries gets permits for New Jersey plant, launches biochar sales Aries Clean Energy has completed environmental permitting for a large-scale biosolids gasification facility to be built in New Jersey. The company has also launched retail sales of its Aries Green biochar product. READ MORE SHARE
B&W Vølund turns over biomass energy project to customer in UK Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises Inc. announced July 15 that its subsidiary, Babcock & Wilcox Vølund A/S, has successfully turned over a biomass-to-energy plant in Margam, Wales, to Margam Green Energy Ltd. READ MORE SHARE
