RNG market surpasses 100-project pinnacle in North America


The Coalition for Renewable Natural Gas announced July 29 that the North American RNG industry has reached the 100 facility benchmark this summer. With the addition of three recent operational facilities, there are now 101 RNG production sites.

Drax to add 350,000 metric tons of pellet capacity

Comment period officially opens on 2020 RFS proposal


The U.S. EPA published its proposed rule to set Renewable Fuel Standard 2020 RVOs and the 2021 RVO for biomass-based diesel in the Federal Register July 29, officially opening a public comment period. Comments on the proposal are due Aug. 30.

SoCalGas, Calgren announce completion of dairy RNG facility


Southern California Gas Co. and Calgren Dairy Fuels announced July 29 the completion of Calgren's RNG facility, which currently processes manure from four dairy farms. Calgren plans to partner with eight additional dairy farms by the end of 2019.

Aria Energy, a Michigan-based renewable energy company, celebrated a ribbon cutting ceremony for its newest renewable natural gas (RNG) facility at the Waste Connections-owned Butler County Landfill in David City, Nebraska, on July 26.

Brightmark Energy acquires Wisconsin dairy biogas project


Brightmark Energy has purchased an anaerobic digester northwest of Madison, Wisconsin, that will convert 90,000 gallons per day of dairy waste from three local farms into biogas and other products. The company plans to produce RNG.

Valero: Ethanol earnings down, renewable diesel earnings up in Q2


Valero Energy Corp. released second quarter financial results on July 25, reporting mixed results for its biofuel segments. Income from the ethanol segment was down, but income from renewable diesel was up. Production volumes of both fuels increased.
