Washington House passes bill to create clean fuels program The state of Washington is one step closer to enacting a clean fuels program that would limit greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions per unit of transportation fuel to 10 percent below 2017 levels by 2028 and 20 percent below 2017 levels by 2035. Report: Waste biomass can help California meet net-zero goal A new report released by LLNL has determined California can achieve its goal of carbon neutrality by 2045 at modest cost using technology that is already demonstrated and mature, including carbon capture from waste biomass utilization. Valero reports profitable Q4 for ethanol, renewable diesel Valero Energy Corp. released fourth quarter results on Jan. 30, reporting a profitable three-month period for both its ethanol segment and renewable diesel segment. Skeena Bioenergy responds to local pellet shortage Skeena Bioenergy, the owner of a 75,000-metric-ton-per-year wood pellet plant located in Terrace, British Columbia, announced on Jan. 28 plans to donate pellets to local residents in response to a local shortage of home heating fuel. UPS continues to build on RNG momentum UPS has entered into multi-year renewable natural gas (RNG) agreements with Kinetrex Energy and TruStar Energy. Together, these two contracts will supply UPS with up to 80 million gallon equivalents (GEs) of RNG over the terms of the agreements. READ MORE SHARE
Aemetis wins $4.1 million grant for biogas upgrading unit Aemetis Inc. announced Jan. 29 that the California Energy Commission awarded the company’s subsidiary, Aemetis Biogas LLC, a $4.1 million grant under the CEC’s Low Carbon Fuel Production Program to construct a biogas upgrading facility.
