Republic Services aims to increase beneficial reuse of biogas Republic Services Inc. released an annual sustainability report on July 22 that highlights the company’s renewable energy production and sets a goal to significantly increase the volume of biogas it sends to beneficial reuse by 2030. ACR: Comment period open on updated landfill gas methodology The American Carbon Registry has opened a public comment period on Version 2.0 of its methodology for the generation of carbon offsets from landfill gas destruction and beneficial use projects. DOE to provide $68 million for bioenergy crop research The DOE on July 28 announced $68 million in funding over five years for basic research aimed at making bioenergy feedstock crops more productive and resilient. ITA seeks nominations for renewable energy advisory committee The U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration is seeking nominations for members of its Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee. Nominations are due July 31. READ MORE SHARE
Uskmouth conversion project to be completed in 2 phases Simec Atlantis Energy Ltd. announced in mid-July that it now plans to develop its proposed U.K.-based Uskmouth power station conversion project in two phases. Grant helps harness biomass, manure to fuel farms A $10 million grant from the USDA’s National Institute for Food and Agriculture will allow a research team led by Iowa State University, Penn State and Roeslein Alternative Energy to develop new methods of turning biomass and manure into fuel.
