Ricketts signs bill establishing renewable chemical tax credit


Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts on Aug. 20 signed LB 1107, a legislative package that includes a production tax credit for renewable chemicals and provides property tax reform that will benefit various types of property owners, including biofuel plants.

9 states, EDF urge court to stop EPA’s delay of landfill gas regs


A coalition of nine states and the EDF filed a brief in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit on Aug. 12 urging the court to strike down a rule issued by the EPA last year that has stalled implementation of landfill emissions regulations.

EPA: 12 more SRE petitions filed, 98 now pending


The U.S. EPA on Aug. 20 released updated SRE data, showing that small refiners have filed 12 additional SRE petitions, including nine “gap year” petitions. A total of 98 SRE petitions are now pending, up from 86 that were pending as of July 16.

Orsted inaugurates biomass-fired Asnæs Power Station


Danish power company Orsted announced on Aug. 21 the inauguration of its biomass-fired Asnæs Power Station. The facility will provide renewable energy to Novozymes, Novo Nordisk and district heating customers in Kalundborg.

Aemetis completes construction of phase one RNG project


Aemetis Inc. has completed of construction of the first two dairy digesters and four mile pipeline for the production of RNG. The project will supply RNG to displace natural gas use at the Keyes ethanol plant and for use as a transportation fuel.

Rumpke, Archaea Energy break ground on landfill gas project


Rumpke Waste & Recycling is partnering with Archaea Energy to turn Southern Indiana’s trash into a renewable energy source. The two companies recently broke ground on a landfill-gas-to-energy plant at Rumpke’s Medora Landfill.
