Japan is proposing to shorten the eligibility window for previously approved and future biomass projects under its feed-in tariff (FIT) program, according to a report filed with the USDA FAS Global Agricultural Information Network on Sept. 18.

EPA: 1.58 billion RINs generated in August


The U.S. EPA has released data showing 1.58 billion renewable identification numbers (RINs) were generated under the Renewable Fuel Standard in August, down from 1.65 billion during the same period of 2019.

European Commission proposes 55% cut in GHGs by 2030


The European Commission on Sept. 17 released a plan that aims to reduce European Union GHG emissions by at least 55 percent by 2030 when compared to 1990 levels. The goal would put the EU on a pathway to reaching climate neutrality by 2050.

U.K. renewable energy generation increased by 30 percent during the first quarter of 2020, reaching 40.8 terawatt hours (TWh), according to data released by the U.K. Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy on Sept. 10.

The U.S. EPA has published updated SRE data that reflects the denial of 54 gap year SRE petitions announced by the agency on Sept. 14. The data also shows seven new SRE petitions have been filed in recent weeks, including five new gap year SREs.

Wisconsin project produces drinkable water from digested manure


Dane County, Wisconsin, on Sept. 15 cut the ribbon on a community nutrient concentration system that converts digested manure from GL Dairy Biogas LLC into drinkable water. Nutrients are recovered and used as fertilizer.
