USDA: Wood pellet exports top 660,000 metric tons in November The U.S. exported 660,312.5 metric tons of wood pellets in November, up from 624,212.9 metric tons in October, but down from 777,976.5 metric tons in November 2019, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on Jan. 7. USDA releases AIA research strategy summary, dashboard The USDA on Jan. 12 released a report and online dashboard that integrates the information collected by the agency as part of its Agriculture Innovation Agenda, an initiative that aims to help the U.S. agricultural industry meet future demands. California awards grants to biomass, bioenergy projects The California Energy Commission on Jan. 14 announced it is awarding nearly $2 million to eight projects through the Tribal Government Challenge Grant Program. DOE: ‘Energy for Space’ strategy addresses biomass for energy, ag The Department of Energy on Jan. 6 released its “Energy for Space” strategy, which states that knowledge gained through advances in genomic science will enable the development of sustainable biomass for energy and agriculture in space environments.
