USDA: US exports 599,324 metric tons of wood pellets in January The U.S. exported 599,624.2 metric tons of wood pellets in January, up from both 564,826.2 metric tons in December and 500,904 metric tons in January 2020, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on March 5. Marathon proceeds with renewables conversion at Martinez refinery Marathon Petroleum Corp. announced on March 2 that is proceeding with plans to produce renewable diesel at its petroleum refinery in Martinez, California. Washington House passes bill to establish Clean Fuels Standard The Washington House of Representatives on Feb. 27 voted 52 to 46 to pass H.B. 1091, a bill that aims to establish a state-wide Clean Fuels Standard. The legislation is currently pending in the Washington Senate. READ MORE SHARE
Calumet to bring on equity investor for renewable diesel project Representatives of Calumet Specialty Products Partners L.P. discussed the company’s plan to produce renewable diesel at its existing petroleum refinery in Great Falls, Montana, during a fourth quarter earnings call on March 3. Cardboard-to-pellet project receives $95,000 grant An innovative partnership between Aurora College and a Gwich’in-owned company has received $95,000 to support studying the potential to convert waste cardboard into heating pellets for homes and businesses in Inuvik and the Beaufort Delta. Neste acquires Bunge’s refinery plant in Rotterdam Neste has announced its previously announced acquisition of Bunge Loders Croklaan's refinery plant in Rotterdam closed March 1. Neste will modify the facility to pretreat feedstock for renewable diesel production. READ MORE SHARE
City of Lincoln, Nebraska completes RNG project Lincoln, Nebraska Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird on Feb. 25 announced the successful completion of a project to use the biogas from a city wastewater facility to produce renewable natural gas (RNG) for use as vehicle fuel. READ MORE SHARE
Clean Energy, Total partner to develop RNG fuel, infrastructure Clean Energy Fuels Corp. and its largest shareholder, Total SE, on March 4 announced a 50/50 joint venture to develop carbon-negative RNG production facilities in the United States, as well as credit support to build fueling infrastructure. Flint Hills, Encina to produce renewable fuels, chemicals Encina Development Group has signed a non-binding term sheet with Flint Hills Resources to produce renewable chemicals and renewable fuels from waste plastic.
