Drax completes acquisition of Pinnacle Drax Group plc announced on April 13 that it has completed the previously announced acquisition of Pinnacle Renewable Energy Inc. The transaction increases Drax’s annual wood pellet production capacity to 4.9 million metric tons from 2022. READ MORE SHARE

Washington Senate passes Clean Fuel Standard bill The Washington Senate on April 8 voted 27 to 20 in favor of H.B. 1091, a bill that aims to establish a state-wide CFS. Total begins producing sustainable aviation fuel in France Total has begun producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at its La Mède biorefinery in southern France and its Oudalle facility near Le Havre. The biojet fuel, made from used cooking oil, will be delivered to French airports starting in April 2021. READ MORE SHARE
EPA awards $2.5 million to 24 environmental projects The U.S. EPA on April 6 announced nearly $2.5 million in awards to 24 small businesses to support the development of environmental technologies. A portion of that funding is supporting bioenergy and biomaterials projects. READ MORE SHARE
USDA: US wood pellet exports at 556,802 metric tons in February The U.S. exported 556,801.7 metric tons of wood pellets in February, up from 546,435.2 metric tons during the same month of last year, but down from 599,624.2 metric tons in January, according to data released by the USDA on April 7.
