White House OMB reveals expected timelines of 2 RFS rules The Biden administration has signaled its intent to issue a notice of proposed rulemaking to develop post-2022 RFS regulations before the end of 2021. BETC: Wood pellets, chips reduce GHG emissions by 65-100% The Biomass Thermal Energy Council and Life Cycle Associates have released the results of a study that determined wood pellets and chips result a 65 to over 100 percent reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in comparison to heating oil. SFU’s new biomass plant transforms wood waste into energy Simon Fraser University expects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) from heating by 80 percent now that the new $33-million Corix biomass plant has begun operation. Frontline Bioenergy delivers plant modules for pyrolysis project On June 8, Frontline BioEnergy delivered the final module of the Stine pyrolysis plant to the project site in Redfield, Iowa. Oberon Fuels starts commercial production of rDME Oberon Fuels has begun production of the first-ever renewable dimethyl ether (rDME) at its facility in Brawley, California. According to Oberon, rDME’s properties allow it to cost-effectively store and transport renewable hydrogen. READ MORE SHARE
BC’s Seabreeze Farm completes RNG equipment upgrade with DMT DMT Clear Gas Solutions announces the RNG facility at Seabreeze Farm is operational. EIA: Densified biomass fuel sales reach 700,000 tons in February The U.S. Energy Information Administration recently released data showing U.S. manufacturers produced approximately 620,000 tons of densified biomass fuel in February, with sales reaching 700,000 tons. READ MORE SHARE
Cargill, HELM partner to develop biobased BDO facility in Iowa Cargill and HELM are investing a combined $300 million to build a commercial-scale, renewable BDO facility at Cargill’s existing biotechnology campus and corn refining operation in Eddyville, Iowa.
