EIA: Wood, waste energy account for 22% of US renewables in 2020 The U.S. consumed a record 12 percent of renewable energy in 2020, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on June 16. Kind introduces bill to provide tax incentive for biogas projects Reps. Ron Kind, D-Wisc., and Tom Reed, R-N.Y., on June 16 reintroduced the Agricultural Environmental Stewardship Act, which aims to provide tax incentives to farmers and rural electric cooperatives who invest in biogas technology. 	EPA: 1.71 billion RINs generated in May The U.S. EPA has released data showing nearly 1.71 billion renewable identification numbers (RINs) were generated under the Renewable Fuel Standard in May, up from 1.26 billion generated during the same month of last year. READ MORE SHARE
Report: Dutch wood pellets imports reach new high in 2020 The Netherlands imported a record 2.76 million metric tons of wood pellets last year at a value of $511 million, according a report published by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service’s Global Agricultural Information Network. READ MORE SHARE
UK REA urges the government to reassert its commitment to biomass The U.K. REA submitted comments to the U.K. BEIS in early June urging the government to reassert its commitment to delivering a strong biomass sector by continuing to build on existing bioenergy heat, transport and power sectors. EPA: No new SRE petitions filed, 70 SRE petitions still pending Data published by the U.S. EPA on June 17 shows that no new SRE petitions have been filed under the RFS in the past month. The data also indicates no changes have been made to the status of 70 pending SRE petitions. READ MORE SHARE
Senators urge EPA to approve eRIN pathway petitions A group of six senators on June 14 sent a letter to U.S. EPA Administrator Michael Regan urging him to allow renewable electricity made from biomass to participate in the Renewable Fuel Standard program. READ MORE SHARE
