Shell sets goal to produce 2 million tons of SAF annually


Royal Dutch Shell plc on Sept. 20 announced its ambition to produce around 2 million metric tons of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) a year by 2025. It also aims to have at least 10 percent of its global aviation fuel sales as SAF by 2030.

Drax: Construction starts on second Arkansas pellet plant


Drax Group has started construction on the second of three satellite pellet plants in Arkansas, the company announced Sept. 20. The faciltiy, located in Russellville, Arkansas, is expected to begin commerical operations in 2022.

EPA: 1.7 billion RINs generated in August


More than 1.7 billion renewable identification numbers (RINs) were generated under the Renewable Fuel Standard in August, up from 1.6 billion generated during the same period of last year, according to data released by the U.S. EPA on Sept. 16.

Greenlane Biogas North America Ltd. has signed with Green Impact Partners, through its EPC contractor, a biogas upgrading system supply agreement for $6.1 million (US$4.8 million) for a RNG project in Colordao.

The EIA on Sept. 3 for the first time released U.S. capacity data for biorefineries that produce renewable diesel, renewable heating oil, renewable jet fuel, renewable naphtha and gasoline, and “other" renewable fuels and intermeidate products.
