White House hosts event to celebrate the Inflation Reduction Act The White House hosted an event Sept. 13 to celebrate the Inflation Reduction Act, which was signed by President Biden on Aug. 16. USDA: US pellet exports at 649,186 metric tons in July The U.S. exported 649,185.7 metric tons of wood pellets in July, down from 832,092.2 metric tons the previous month, but up when compared to the 546,519.1 metric tons exported in July 2021, according to data released by the USDA FAS on Sept. 7. Vertex: Renewable diesel conversion project to be complete in Q1 Vertex Energy Inc. on Sept. 12 provided an update on the company's Mobile, Alabama, refinery renewable diesel conversion project. Gevo’s RNG project approved by EPA to participate in RFS Gevo Inc. has announced that its Northwest Iowa renewable natural gas project, Gevo NW Iowa RNG LLC, was granted registration approval by the U.S. EPA, allowing Gevo RNG to participate in the Renewable Fuel Standard program. READ MORE SHARE
USDA lowers forecast for soybean oil use in biofuel production The USDA reduced both its forecast for 2022-’23 soybean oil use in biofuel production and its estimate for 2021-’22 soybean use in biofuel production in its latest World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report, released Sept. 12. Aemetis to file permits for Riverbank plant in Q4 Aemetis Inc. has reported that the engineering work completed during the past year by CTCI for the Aemetis Riverbank Carbon Zero SAF and renewable diesel plant is on schedule for filing permits and conducting procurement commending in Q4 2022. Clean Fuels, EPA pause litigation on separated food waste Clean Fuels Alliance America and the U.S. Department of Justice have filed a joint motion with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. DOE’s Industrial Decarbonization Roadmap addresses bioenergy An Industrial Decarbonization Roadmap released by the DOE on Sept. 7 identifies four key pathways to reduce industrial emissions from American manufacturing, including through the use of biofuels, biobased feedstocks and CCUS. Biogest builds RNG plant in South Dakota Biogest America has received a U.S. order to build an agricultural biogas plant in South Dakota that will produce RNG. The plant has a thermal output of 156,000 MMBTU p.a. and operates on 224,000 tons of cow manure per year. READ MORE SHARE
Green Plains, Tallgrass, PNNL win DOE funding for SAF technology Green Plains Inc., Tallgrass, and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory on Sept. 6 announced they have been awarded funding from the U.S. Department of Energy to advance sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) technology. READ MORE SHARE
