A bill pending in the Louisiana state legislature aims to benefit the state’s wood pellet manufacturing industry by streamlining permitting, developing a skilled workforce and facilitating the efficient transportation and export of wood pellets.
The U.S. exported 964,860.7 metric tons of wood pellets in January, up from 834,615 metric tons in December and 825,269.9 metric tons in January 2025, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on March 12.
Renewables are expected to account for nearly 26% of U.S. electricity generation this year, increasing to nearly 28% in 2027, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration’s latest Short-Term Energy Outlook, released March 10.
Chattanooga's Moccasin Bend Environmental Campus is launching a project that will generate electricity from wastewater methane. MBEC selected Mainspring Energy to install six linear generators this year, producing an initial 1.5 MW of electricity.
U.S. manufacturers produced approximately 1 million tons of densified biomass fuel in October, according to the U.S. EIA’s Monthly Densified Biomass Fuels Report. Sales of densified biomass fuel reached 970,000 tons during the month.
