As former President Jimmy Carter is honored by family, friends and political leaders in Washington, D.C., the Alliance for Green Heat is highlighting his environmental leadership, which included public advocacy for wood heating.&nbsp;Carter, a member of the Democratic Party, served as the 39th U.S. president from 1977 to 1981. He died Dec. 29, 2024, at the age of 100. His state funeral was held at the Washington Natural Cathedral on Jan. 9.&nbsp;John Ackerly, president of the Alliance for Green Heat, detailed Carter’s support for wood heating in a blog post published Dec. 31.According to Ackerly, Carter took a personal interest in wood heating technology and had approximately six wood stoves installed at the White House and at Camp David during his presidency.&nbsp;A full copy of the blog post is available on the Alliance for Green Heat <a href="https://forgreenheat.blogspot.com/">website</a>.&nbsp;
